Cart Running Painfully Slow

My site started to run extremely slowly yesterday...but not all day. In the evening only for about 20 minutes or so it was slowing to a stop, pages weren't loading, then it went back to normal.

Then today about an hour ago it started again. The non-shopping cart pages of the site are fine, but once you get into the zen cart area it gets very very slow. Loading the products is slow and then once you try to log in to your account it just dies there and times out.

I have run the database cleanup and optimization through the admin but that didn't help. I'm not sure what else to do. It is hosted with NetworkSolutions but the site has been running smoothly and quickly for a couple of months until yesterday so i don't think it would be the host. This is not a huge store, only 33 products.

However, I can see no reason for it to be running this slow ...

I would speak to your hosting site about moving to a better optimized server or see if there is a problem with the server that it is currently running this badly ...

You might consider looking into our Certified Hosting sites from the Hosting link at the top of your screen if your current hosting site is unable to manage MySQL and php programs efficiently ...

Thanks I will see if they can move me...but I wonder why this would start to happen all of a sudden. The cart has been steadily worked on since its inception about 2 months ago but nothing major has been done and it was working perfectly until yesterday....

Since Ajeh said you have a beautiful site, I just had to look. She's right. :smile: The site is lovely (not to mention run by a fellow New Yorker!).

It is very slow, tho. :( You might ask your hosting service if another site on the server is taking up resources since it doesn't seem to be your site that should be slowing things down.

Such a waste that your beauitful site is housed on dreadfully slow server..
hope you get your host sorted out very soon..

I'm in the UK and it's very slow loading over here too... Suggests that it's not necessarily network traffic, but something holding up your server.

Sorry for the delay in responding but we decided to move the site to a new "certified" host as you all recommended so the last couple of days have been a little hectic. The site is back up and running smoothly and much faster, although we are still ironing out a few bugs.

Thank you all for the compliments on the site. I will pass them along to the store owner as she will be very happy to hear it.

I just went through the same issue and moved to a certified host (Camelot) and loving it. Good decision! Nice site.
