Cannot add new categories

The old zen cart I had never worked properly so I decided to install the new 1.38 version on a sub domain, Add the catagories, Products, Customers manually, Copied from my present zen cart. Then once completed move to the main domain. But after adding 5 categories and 30 sub categories yesterday. This morning when I try to add another new category. When I click the save button it takes me to the homepage. Any input would be greatfully recieved as I am about to pull my hair out and throw the PC out of the window. :censored:

Re: Cannot add new categories

Hi I have narrowed it down to html.
If I use html then I cannot save (categories) or Preview products as I try to add them. No html they save OK.

Re: Cannot add new categories

Do you have categories and products mixed on the same level? That can cause problems.

Re: Cannot add new categories

Thank you for your reply.
Not quite sure what you mean about same level but I had only got as far as adding the categories and sub categories. It was not until I discovered I could not add categories with html that I actually tried to list a product as a test.

Re: Cannot add new categories

In the admin under catalog->categories/products, do you see only categories or categories and products listed together?

No. on the top level where I have added categories I can only add more categories.
Same applies to the sub categories until I open them, then I have the choice of both

Re: Cannot add new categories

It might be worth contacting your host coz I had the same problem that everytime I add anything with html, it returns to my homepage. My host managed to fix it and everything is now working as they should.

Hi Berserker
Last night I uploaded yet another zen cart. BUT this time to a test server.
YES it worked.
So this morning I contacted my webhost and they said that they had a security mod running on my server which disables html.
They switched it off on my account and everything is working fine again :clap:

NOW anybody any idea as to why the customers addresses do not show up
Which is why I uploaded a new Zen cart to a subdomain in the first place.
To manually add all old customers /products.

Glad you got the HTML problem worked out. Good catch, Berserker!

How are you adding the customers?

Still on the categories yet.
but did a test on one of my log in accounts.
Filled in all the fields.
choose a pasword.
Then in the data base copied the pasword from my old database.
put it in the new one and can now log in with my old original pasword. :smartalec:
Go on tell me theres a problem about to happen

Re: Cannot add new categories

If you still have the old database available, you might be able to copy the entire thing using phpMyAdmin

Yes thats what I thought in August when changing from osc.
I was told its easy.
But to be on the safe side I thought I would pay someone who knows what he is doing.
It was after he transfered the data that the addresses dissapeared from invoices, accounts.
Not to be outdone I got someone else to look at the database.
but they were unable to fix it.
So I have decided 6 months later to do it myself manually
