still trying to add a background

I am still trying to add a background image to the back of the template. I am trying to do what is on this site http://(sorry, site offline)/138/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3&template_dir=purpleshades with the pick tile. I am not sure what page to go to do this. I am using verison 1.3.8. I believe I have the right code not sure what page though. When I put in the templates style sheet it changes the colors of the side bar but it does not add the image. I don't want the side bar colors to change to what it changes to.

Re: still trying to add a background

Its a background image that I made that is similar to the link I put. I am trying to do the same thing. Add it to the back of the template. Where it would appear behind the white like the original template you get. The line I change is the line that says background color. I change it to background image and put the code. But it does not change what I want it to change.It changes the colors of the side bars and the top bar above the header.

Re: still trying to add a background

Mary Ellen tried to help you yesterday in your other post.

You need to make sure you're editing the stylesheet.css file in the correct template. Any changes you make to the classic template WILL be overwritten. She explained the override system files yesterday.

The code needs to be added to the stylesheet.css file in the custom template directory.

The image you're adding needs to be added to the correct images directory of your custom template.

If you want to post an url someone can look at, that might be helpful.

Or if you're using Firefox, you can grab the Firebug plugin from their website and use that to look at your live .css code yourself and see what file exactly it's pulling from.

Re: still trying to add a background

You still are not being specific enough and did not post your exact code for this???

But depending on what you seek and if you want it like purple shades there are 2 places that you might add this.

First make sure that your image is in your template/images folder.

Find these tags and add one of these edits to yours:

body {
	background-color: #FFCC00;
	color: #000000;
	margin: 0px;
	margin-bottom: 0px;
	padding: 0px;
        font: 11px Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
	background-image: url(../images/your_image.gif);
        background-repeat: repeat;
}

#mainWrapper {
	background-image: url(../images/your_image.gif);
        background-repeat: repeat;
	text-align: left;
	width: 100%;
	vertical-align: top;
	}

Re: still trying to add a background

I'm not the person that posted the question (naturally) but thank you! It was the main wrapper that was knocking me off I think.
