UPS and USPS Together Slow Way Down on my server

If I install either the UPS or the USPS shipping module, the site works fine BUT if both are installed at the same time, the site slows way down when hitting the shopping cart, shipping estimator or the checkout pages. If I delete either module, the site returns back to normal.

zen 1.3.7.1 and I applied the USPS patch (uninstalled and reinstalled). I am running production mode as well.

Shipping and Payment modules that utilize other servers are subject to experiencing periodic slow downs based on those servers ...

While this is usually not a daily issue, there are times when this can happen ...

You can check which server is the problem by removing the shipping modules one by one until you see the speed change ...

Then, you can decide if you should temporarily remove the shipping module for a few minutes, hours etc. until that server is working right ...

It seems these 2 are fighting eachother, as they work fine by themselves.

I will try periodically to run both and see if the performance improves.

I am running both in v1.3.8a and have no problems ...

I checked v1.3.7.1 and no problems there either ...

What is your Ship From and Ship To addresses and weight being used?

I set up a customer account with my business address so the ship from and ship to address are the same. My product weight is 3 lbs with tare set at 0:0 for both small to medium and large packages.

I had a chat today with a business associate and she suggested not using USPS (lost packages, long lines, hidden costs). So I have decided to delete the USPS and only use UPS for now.
