Template override and IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

I followed the instructions here for setting up templates:
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=36
However it does not look like I expected. Much of the Classic look is gone (for example, I'm not 100% instead of fixed width, pink, blue and purple sidebox headers, etc).

Here's all I've copied over for now:
\includes\languages\mycustom\english.php
\includes\languages\english\mycustom\meta_tags.php
\includes\templates\mycustom\template_info.php
\includes\templates\mycustom\css\stylesheet.css

I edited template_info appropriately and edited the title and tagline in meta_tags.php, that's all.

Maybe I'm just seeing a bare-bones zen display, or did I mess something up? Perhaps I should just copy the whole Classic dir and start there?

Also I was wondering if there's an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel for zen users?

Thanks!

Re: Template override and IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

Exchange the default stylesheet for the one from classic - You can modify from there.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Template override and IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

That was just what I wanted! Thanks.

Still wondering if there's an IRC channel anywhere... it's been years since I used zen-cart and am back to simple newbie questions that might be easier that way.

Current bewilderment is seeing all 16 RIGHT sideboxes turned ON in the admin area, and only 6 display.

There is no official IRC channel.

The forum is here for asking questions and getting help. If you're going to type your questions, you may as well do it on the forum.

Don't forget the FAQ system where numerous commonly-asked questions are discussed and solutions provided.

Sideboxes are smart - many are programmed to only show when certain conditions exist.

What isn't showing that you think should be?

Re: Template override and IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

I was just wondering why some were set to on and not showing. I see.

How do I tell when each should be showing? Basically I want to see them and decide if I want them at all (I'm trimming quite a bit of the side boxes out).

Ultimately I'll probably move desired ones to the left column and eliminate the right column completely... I expect there's a thread about that I just haven't had a chance to poke around yet.

Thanks again!
