Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
in:
[select * from project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]

I can assure you this error has nothing to do with SSU. Perhaps during the process to turn on mod_rewrite you have somehow made mysql server unable to run.

Try to restart it, can you access it normally via phpmyadmin? If yes, check and see if the db login info in includes/configure.php is correct.

Yup, and 3.6.1 manager is a bit different from the link I showed you. but what I meant is the whole process remains the same

For example, you dont put the whole link into the manager, you put part of it

Please read:
http://wiki.rubikintegration.com/zencart/modules/ssu/for_users/link_alias

And watch the tutorial again.

Hi Yellow, thanks for the quick response

I can't access phpMyAdmin now so it must be something to do with the mess I've made httpd.conf file. God! I wish I'd made a copy of it now.

It's the only thing I made changes to and I've changed everything back but it still doesn't work. If I get a brand new one from somewhere is it likely to work or am I probably barking up the wrong tree?

Really appreciate your time by the way. You're a saint!

Cool, just tried it, but will have to wait for GoDaddy to catch up, will let you know. Thanks!

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi,
Since installing simple seo I've been having a problem with image handler 2, when I am in admin and click on image handler to add an extra image everything seems ok but then when I actually go the the product where I have added the extra images, they don't show up - an example is on this product where there should be two images;
http://www.lathespares.co.uk/testsite/oil-nipples-lubrication-new-c-31/2ba-oil-nipple-new-p-333
The main image shows up but the extra one created with image handler doesn't. The problem has occured since I installed simple seo as other additional images which were created before it was installed do show up, as shown here;
http://www.lathespares.co.uk/testsite/myford-super-7-spares-motorising-assembly-c-2_12/clutch-assembly-super-7-p-290
Any help would be much appreciated - Many thanks, Mike

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Honestly I dont see how SSU can affect IH2, I'm using IH2 on my own site with SSU installed and we have seen no problem like that. What if you disable SSU, upload the image, and check the product, do the images appear?

Hi Yellow,

When I disable simple seo the products still don't show but all of the product images that I created with image handler before I installed simple seo work.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Yes, but those old images still work with SSU enabled right?

What you have to do is: disable SSU, now add additional image, and see if they display.
http://public.rubikintegration.com/
If you want to make sure, upgrade to SSU 3.6.4 but I must say that this problem has never happened to us before.
The way IH2 works has nothing to do with SSU. SSU only interferes with link creating and interpreting, ih2 does nothing of that.

Yes that's right, they work with seo enabled or disabled.

What is your ssu version? I know for certain if SSU is installed correctly, it does not interfere with anything on the admin side (since it is not supposed to rewrite anything there)
Also, knowing how IH2 works, I doubt that SSU can interfere with this in any way.

But just to make sure, disable SSU, then upload additional images, and see if those new added images work.

If they do, then SSU is at fault, which is weird btw, you may check if you uploaded files to the wrong folder. Anyhow, in that case, you can try to upgrade to latest version which is 3.6.4, then try adding new images again and see if they appear.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

I'm using the seo 3-5-8 and was initially using an older version of image handler which did work again when I disabled seo but I have now installed a later version of image handler to see if it cured the problem and now it doesn't seem to work even when seo is disabled.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Knowing the way Zen additional image work, I would suggest you to check the names (and locations) of those newly uploaded images and see if they do satisfy ZC requirements

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=58

On a side note, I also notice IH2 does not work well with png file sometimes.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Version 3.6.5 is released
This version is an **EXPERIMENTAL **version, please do not upgrade, there is NO NEED to upgrade!

This version added a new feature requested long before by xordox, he wants a feature that would somehow tell SSU not to add in the language identfier (for multiple language sites) if the language is default.

Here is what it means: for example if you have multi lang enabled in SSU, and your default lang is en, your links look like this

site.com/en/something
site.com/fr/something
site.com/cn/something

Now, with this new feature, you can use a switch in the admin to tell SSU to use:

site.com/something
site.com/fr/something
site.com/cn/something

Again, it'sup to you.

3.6.5 also comes with a minor bug fix for the cache class.

Again, there is no need to upgrade. 3.6.4 is the latest stable.

Hello,
I am still at a version that has the p and c id's in it.
If i upgrade and do nothing, will all the links be the same?

If i turn on autoalias, will i get 301's for the old-style links to the new ones or will that be 404's?

Thanks,
Jeroen

I will recommend 3.6.4 if you want to upgrade, 3.6.5 is not stable yet.

--> yes

--> 301

Hi Yellow,
I have just been checking to see what could have been causing the problem and as you suspected it was nothing to do with seo light, is was some sort of conflict between zen lightbox and image handler 2, as soon as I removed light box I could agian see the additional images.
Thanks again for your help and providing an excellent module!

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

I've just realised that on the live site that I have SSU on I changed a categorys name a while back but since the instructions weren't fresh in my mind I didn't refresh the cache. It doesn't seem to have had any negative effect that I can spot in terms of actually working, in other words all the URLs say what they're supposed to without me resetting the cache. Is the negative effect therefore just a performance of server issue? Or does it have a bad effect on my sites ability to be spidered and indexed?

Cheers
