Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Nedward:

Yes by clearing the cache my site started working again. But it had only been active for about 3 hours, this doesn't seem right that it should break so quickly.
And I don't know what a Cron job is.

ok I just googled cron job and now I understand that it's a timed event but I've no idea how to implement that.

Steven

Before you installed this module your site link looked like this for your home page.
http://www.example.com/index.php?main_page=

After you install the module your home page should look like this.
http://www.example.com/

If you do not clear your cache you will receive an error message because your links has change. Simple Seo indexes a lot of links in your cache. When ever you change something in admin add or delete you need to always clear your cache. By setting up a cron job in you Control Panel it will do it for you. If you can get to your server Control Panel make a cron like this
GET http://yoursite.com/cron/ssu.php

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

If you have a redirection loop, I really suspect you are using an older version. What is the version of SSU that you are using?

You should not have to cleared SSU cache that often, you only have to clear it when you make changes to your product/category/ezpage/manufacture/...names
In other words, if you make changes in the database and want those new names to be reflected in the links, you clear cache. If you don't old links will still work fine.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hiya Yellow1912, I downloaded the version yesterday but I can't see where it tells me which version it is.

Where will I find out the version?

regards

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Ok, I think we are ok with the major problem now, but still I have this niggling problem....
When I use the Admin to See who is Online in my shop
I used to see http://www.mysite.com/shop/index.ph...p_image&pID=33
which I could identify because I know what image 33 is.
But now I see
http://www.mysite.com/shop/includes.../header_bg.jpg

I see this for several different ip addresses and I don't know what pages or products they are looking at.
When I click the link I get my "page not found"page.

But some ips show the new style SSU URL so I know what page they are on.
the header_bg.jpg is troubling me though.
Any ideas??

Thanks
Steven

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

QUESTION :unsure:

my cart is put on http //www.mysite.com/zencart
i redirect the main page to http //www.mysite.com from .htaccess

so, the site url is http //www.mysite.com when the first accessing the site, then showing http //www.mysite.com/zencart/... if clicking sth

now i use ssu (i have multiple languages for my site)

if i set multi language off, its ok. if i set multi language on, the url is http //www.mysite.com/zencart/en/ when first accessing, can i show it as http //www.mysite.com/en/ for first access then show http //www.mysite.com/zencart/en/... if clicking sth ?

WISH :P

  1. now i could only set max category level to 1, show product url as http // ... /category-name/product-name
    i'd like to show the product page as : http // ... /product-name
    but even i set max level to 0, it doesn't work as i want.

  2. for multi languages, i want the url like this :
    first access: http //www.mysite.com
    default language: http //www.mysite.com/zencart/...
    other language: http //www.mysite.com/zencart/en/...

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Erm, for the first one:
I'm a bit confused, since you have zen installed in subfolder, SSU does not really kick in when your customers visit the homepage.

Now, for the max category level: yes 1 is the current lowest now.

For the default language thing: you should already see this feature if you are using 3.6.4+ If not then upgrade :)

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

From the wiki:
TROUBLESHOOTING: After installing itself, this module writes a file named ".keep" in admin\includes\module_installation, if your server doesnt allow it to do so, it may make the module attempting to install itself everytime. The fix is easy though, just manually create a .keep file there (after the module has already installed itself, of course)

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hello Yellow
I am not sure why I always have problems when installing this mod.

I am installing this mod on a customer site that I am developing. Zen cart is installed in a subfolder names /dev/. I am installing the latest version 3.6.6. I have installed the .htaccess in the subfolder root so the link to it is public_html/dev/.htaccess the content of the .htaccess folder is" ```

<head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> </head> <PRE>#### BOF SSU Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On # Change "/zencart/ to the correct setting # if your site is located at root folder, then you should have RewriteBase / # Go to your include/configure.php, this value should be the same with the value of DIR_WS_CATALOG RewriteBase /dev/</PRE> <PRE># Deny access from .htaccess RewriteRule ^\.htaccess$ - [F]</PRE> <PRE>RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} -f [OR] RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} -d RewriteRule .* - [L]</PRE> <PRE>RewriteRule ^(.+) index.php/$1 [E=VAR1:$1,QSA,L] #### EOF SSU</PRE> ```

Here is the issue.

  • The site doesn't load when you go to the link for example https://www.elitecarcovers.com/dev you get a white page.- The ssu_check.php doesn't load either.
  • If I go to admin>extras>SSU Manager I get the following error:```
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home6/eliteca1/public_html/dev/admin/includes/classes/ssu.php on line 12
Everything else in the admin works even the SSU configuration works. Now the site doesn't load even if the SSU was disabled.

Matter of fact just after I uploaded the files to the server the site will now load even if I remove the .htaccess.

The configure file is set as follow:

// Define the webserver and path parameters
// HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg-http://www.your_domain.com
// HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg-https://www.your_domain.com
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.elitecarcovers.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.elitecarcovers.com');

// Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
define('ENABLE_SSL', 'false');

// NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes!
// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)
// these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... (ie: under the public_html or httpdocs folder)
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/dev/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/dev/');

Server is running on PHP4, SSU 3+ requires php5

BTW, your htaccess looks weird, why do you have html inside?

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hello.

Thanks for this module. I am having trouble configuring the manual alias section.

For instance, if I set Links to
http://localhost/iqglass/catalogue/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2

and Aliases to

http://localhost/iqglass/catalogue/radiators

I still get a URL of

http://localhost/iqglass/catalogue/iqg-radiators-c-2

Zen Cart 1.3.8a, SSU (simple_seo_url_3-5-8.zip).

Can you point me in the right direction please?

That is not the correct way of setting alias, here is the tutorial:
http://wiki.rubikintegration.com/zencart/modules/ssu/for_users/link_alias
video:
http://public.rubikintegration.com/tutorials/ssu_alias.htm

BTW, recommend to upgrade to 3.6.6

That is weird the server have only php 5 and higher installed on it but that site is running on php 4.4.9 After reinstalling the php 5 in the cpanel it seems to work now but the cpanel still says that its running on 4.4.9 Zen cart server says 5.2

Thanks for your help

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Most web servers support both php4 and php5 at the same time, you just have to tell it which version to use :)

Glad you like it.

What do you mean by " I noticed that now the 301 redirect with multilanguage support are disappear!" BTW?
