Is there a problem with doing this?

If you are using the newest version, the "search" page should be excluded from SSU, so you should not have run into that problem. You can also put the search page in the "page exclude list" if it's not already there. If you still have problem please post a link and detailed steps to re-create the problem

1 thing to remember: 2 pages should never have the same alias.
Your question as to whether it affects anything: yes and no. Yes in a sense that this alias link will point to 1 real product link only (so either the specific product link with the real master category id in it OR the product link with the linked category id in it)

No in a sense that if none of your current features require the correct category id in the link then you will be just fine.

One more question...

I am trying to delete all of the aliases out of the "Manage Aliases" screen... So I go through and delete all the aliases..and it looks like they are all deleted. Then I reset all cache...But when I go on the site the aliases are still active. And then when I go back to the "Manage Aliases" screen, all the aliases are still there. I am wondering what I am doing wrong, or if there is another way for me to delete all of the aliases.

If you have auto alias on, then when you delete aliases and reset cache they will be regenerated again.

i have install the current SSU newest version.

However, i am thinking that the SSU has some problems with search engine.

1. it make web crawler impossible to crawl my site

regular site, it only takes 1 day before listed on Google, but with SSU, two weeks but no luck..and it's not the first time it happens. i think the problem might be the home page. crawler can not follow the home page...show a redirect error. here is a report from google webmaster tool

What you should really look into is: why do you have zenid in your search engine url?

You should check your session setting in your admin first (this is not SSU setting)

In any case, the title and desc are from your pages title and meta tags and have nothing to do with ssu. Once google indexes the pages for a while it will eventually fill in those info.

It definitely had to do with a file being overwritten in the zen cart. The host restored the files to last night and the store is working again.

You are welcome to use a module that has not been updated for 2 years if you want to. Almost all the cases where people cant get this module to work is because they dont follow the step-by-step installation instruction carefully.
And the installation link does work for me, it's a dedicated host which has 100% up time.

Great mod BTW,

I tried another SEO URI mod and didn't like the way it handled the multi language links when the site was spidered. I have a site in English and Spanish and spider simulators as well as site map builders would only show the links in the default language.

Obviously, what I wanted was an english language and a spanish version of each link, which is what I have got with SSU, so many thanks.

The only thing I am struggling with is the transliteration. At the moment the english language links work perfectly. The spanish language links are showing the correct text but all of the accented characters such as: ("ñ", "á", "é", "í", "ó", "ú") are being replaced with a "-" hyphen instead of the unaccented english:("n", "a", "e", "i", "o", "u").

Now, I think I have everything set up correctly because if I tell the "es.php" file in the ssu/pligins/languages folder to transliterate an english "n" for a "w" (just as a test) then everything works fine, it puts "w" in place of "n" perfectly. It just seems to not recognise the spanish characters which show up in the zencart admin backend correctly where they are used in the product and category names.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated as this is a great mod which I really want to get working with my spanish characters. I am sure it is something simple which I am missing.

Have you enabled spanish in includes/classes/ssu/local.config.php?

It should look something like this:

And after you enabled that, clear your SSU cache via admin and see if it helps. If not let me know
