Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Thank you for this excellent mod. All seems to be working great, but I have one question (and I do apologise if its in this thread already, but there are a lot of pages and I couldn`t think of a search term):

For a category, in my store I see:
index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1

When I click the link, in the browser address bar I see:
hardware-c-1.html

So, its working fine, but shouldn`t the seo link be visible at all times in the cart? Have I maybe forgot to upload a certain file?

Thank you for the help,
H.

You are using another SEO module, not simple seo url. SSU doesnt create category links with .html
But in any case, I suspect you either forgot to edit html_output.php or you hardcoded the link in your template

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi Raine:

I believe I just had a simple error in my .htaccess file, changed it, re-uploaded and now my Simple SEO URL Manager works!

So I clicked on the first option (for upgrading from a version earlier than 3.6.5. And the result was that 265 files were removed. Do I need to anything else there?

And I check my file and folder permissions and I had to change one: had config set to 444 so I set it to 644.

Then I went to check SSU to see if it worked and I am still getting the same error:

1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-page- WHERE SELECT pages_title FROM ezpages WHERE pages_id ='3' AND languages_i' at line 1
in:
[SELECT pages_title FROM -page- WHERE SELECT pages_title FROM ezpages WHERE pages_id ='3' AND languages_id = '1' ='3']

Any ideas? Thanks for all your help - almost there!

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

You missed only 1 simple thing: download and install the Multi language Ezpage module I posted link 1 or 2 page back. It will help you as well, since you have multi langs on your site.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi Raine:

Thanks for the quick response.

I currently only use one language for my site, English, do I still need to install the Multi language Ezpage module to get SSU to work.

Thanks again.

If so, no, huhm I wonder why you have this weird error. Surely this one looks weird:

[SELECT pages_title FROM -page- WHERE SELECT pages_title FROM ezpages WHERE pages_id ='3' AND languages_id = '1' ='3']

I have a feeling something went wrong either with the uploaded files or something. If you would like to, I can check the site for you, pm me

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Raine

Just want to say thanks again for your help.

Would it be ok if I delete the files per this webpage: http://wiki.rubikintegration.com/zencart/modules/ssu/upgrade

under 'If you are upgrading from 3.x to 3.6.x'

So I can keep things clean!

Thanks

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

yellow1912:

SSU does 301 ridirection of the links so you dont have to worry about that, eventually it will pick up and index only the new links.

Cool, so is it correct to say that if I want to do additional research on the SEO implications of Simple SEO URL that the focus of my study should be on the subjects of 301 redirects? Yes/No?

Are there other subjects besides 301 redirection that come to mind that I should study to understand the SEO implications of SSU?

Thanks again!

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered already, I spent most of yesterday afternoon reading through this thread.

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.8a with 3.7.1 of this mod.

I have module manager and SEO installed and appearing in admin ok. When I turn on the mod however, all the links in the categories menu etc change but whenever you click them the page seems to only display the home page.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Yup,

Is your server linux? Did you upload the htaccess file? Did you config it correctly?

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

I thought I was all done setting up Simple SEO URL. However,

?zenid=...
```is appended to URLs when surfing my zencart using Internet Explorer.  However, the URLs are fine when using Firefox.
Help me if you please.
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
zenid is supposed to be there at the beginning of each "browsing session", so when you first visit the site you should see it in the links, then when you go to the next link to see it no more.
Phill,
The .htaccess is for Linux, not windows. This may help you:
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
Hi,
Thanks, I have asked my hosting provider if it would be possible to install such a product. His reply was "AFAIK, URL rewriting (ISAPI Rewrite) is now enabled for all domains by default." I hope this means more to you than it does to me. Is that compatible with your code? and if so, is there any other possible reason for the problem, or where is the next place to look?
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
Unlike Apache's mod_rewrite, there are a bunches of addons for iis for mod rewrite. Can you ask him the exact name of the module is being use, and the link to usage documentation?
Yes, I read you mentioning that earlier in the thread. However, in my case, unfortunately it is false that "when you go to the next link to see it no more." When I use Internet Explorer, I always see the zenid (except for the home page), it never go away.
Thanks again.
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
Hi Zean, that obviously is not the behavior we expected. Several things to consider here:
  1. What is your current IE version? Perhaps you turned off cookie?
  2. how about checking this out as well:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92926
  3. You can also switch to the classic template and see if this behavior still persists.
Please note that SSU appends zenid the way zencart would normally do (you can confirm this by turning off SSU)
