Can't log in or add to cart

Hello everyone... I've managed to get by with reading other posts so far, but can't find the answer to this one. I just moved my zen cart to the root folder. everything looks good, but there are two problems.

When you click the log in button or add to cart button, it takes you to a blank page. I don't know what happened. I have the configure.php in admin and includes set to the right settings. I'm stumped. Please, help...

Re: Can't log in or add to cart

It looks to me that your includes\ are not being found- I would suspect an error in your configure.php- Any chance of posting it here?

I didn't name a new folder in the root... I just moved all the folders into the root area. I assume that was the correct thing to do. By the way, I suspect you are correct, because everything worked fine before the move to the root folder, but I just don't know what the code probelm is on the two configure.php files. Thanks

Re: Can't log in or add to cart

Just a little update... If you click the add to cart button for my product (it's the download" button), then it takes you to an empty screen. You can log in now and once you click on the log in button, you can see the product has been added to the cart. Then, you can go to the view cart page, but when you click on the checkout button, it takes you to another empty page.

So, I don't know what's going wrong. Is it somethiong with the configure.php docs or a cache problem? I have set the sessions to point to the same place as the configure.php.

Please, help. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much.

Re: Can't log in or add to cart

sorry, I mean, you can go to the log in page, but you cannot actually log in. When I try to do that, again, it takes you to an empty page.

Re: Can't log in or add to cart

It just seems like there's some sort of redirect happening where the pages just aren't showing.

For example, in the links, if you click "about Scott" link on the left, it takes you to the correct page, but if you click the picture in the sidebox, which has the same link, it goes to a blank page.

Something really weird is happening on the site and I'm thinking it's a code issue but I can't find it. You can't get to the log in page, when you click the download button on my product (that's the add to cart button), it goes to a blank page, but when you go back and reload the page, it shows that the product has been added to the cart...

I took off the /includes/templates/custom/ file and switched back to the default template, but it had no effect. so I put it back in again.

Again, please help... the site is ready to go except for this issue.

Oh and this is the latest version of Zen Cart... 1.3.8

Thanks...

Re: Can't log in or add to cart

solution found and I just wanted to post it in case anyone else ever comes across this problem:

First, I was using Text Edit as a text editor and I believe it may have messed up the code on create_account.php. It's possible I did it by mistake, but be careful when you edit these pages to make sure, you aren't modifying code you shouldn't be.

Second, the actual error was caused in my /includes/configure.php:

The issue was on line 1 of configure.php file:

  <?php

/**

  • @package Configuration Settings circa 1.3.8
  • @copyright Copyright 2003-2007 Zen Cart Development Team
  • @copyright Portions Copyright 2003 osCommerce
  • @license http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt GNU Public License V2.0

See the whitespace before the "<?php"- that was causing major "Cannot modify headers..." errors.

So, again, please be careful when you modify .php pages as it can cause all kinds of issues.

I just wanted to thank Andrew so much, because he was the one who put in a lot of work to find the solution. He's awesome and it's people like him that make Zen Cart work.

Thank you so much, Andrew!

Hey there...

I'm having the same problem.. and I checked my configure files and there is no whitespace issue.

Any thoughts??

Same issue here.
Add to cart goes to an empty page. It did work once after adding paypal as payment method (although this might be a coincidence).

Keep on searching,

Re: Can't log in or add to cart

Don't want to spam this forum but hit another problem: The total "Your Total" did not list anything, then the payment methods were not displayed anymore. It turned out to be a beacuse of the "Order Total Modules". As soon as I turned off unused modules like "Group Discount" I could continuie with the payment.

It looks like ZenCart is quite senzitive to user inputs. Is there a way to turn some debuging feature on?

Best regards,
Octavian
