How To Remove Gift Cert. Redemption box from Checkout?

I was hoping one of you developers can tell me which piece of code to edit for this.

When you checkout of ZenCart, there is the text box where you can redeem a gift certificate code, and next to it, there is an Apply Amount box for typing in your balance.

I want to remove ONLY the redemption box but leave the Apply Amount box.

This is because our customers are finding it confusing because they redeem their gift certificate code previously, then come to checkout, and they are entering the code again which throws an invalid error (because the code has already been redeemed).

The best way around this is for us to simply remove that redemption box and only leave the Apply Amount box. I had seen some code to remove, but when I removed it, it also removed the redemption box from the Coupon Redemption as well, and we need that one to stay in place.

So is there any editing that can be done to only remove the GC redemption box from the checkout page, and yet, still leave the Apply Amount and Coupon Redemption box in place?

How do I remove (comment out) the code which displays "Redemption Code" (and the corresponding text box) under **Gift Certificate ** at checkout? I don't want to accept a Gift Certificate Redemption Code during checkout. What file do I need to edit?

If you turn off Gift Certificates in Admin - Modules - Order Total, that option won't appear.

OK, I'm in:
/includes/templates/MY_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_checkout_payment_default.php
Is that the correct file? What specific code to I comment out to remove the Gift Certificate Redemption Code from Checkout?
Note: I don't want to remove Gift Certificates altogether - just from Checkout.

Just out of curiosity - why would you want to sell gift certificates that can't be redeemed ?

I still want to redeem gift certificates - just not at CHECKOUT. I'm trying to remove (comment out) the code which displays "Redemption Code" (and the corresponding text box) under Gift Certificate at CHECKOUT on the Payment Information page. My customers can still redeem gift certificates by responding to the email link, or entering the Redemption Code on the Gift Certificate FAQ page.

I want to make the process as easy for my customers as possible.
The other day I had a customer in a frazzle because she was typing her code here and it was throwing errors. After investigating it was clear that she had not realised the GC was already added to her account balance when she signed up. It's not very clear anywhere that this is the case and that you should not need to add the code during checkout.

It may be a simple case of adding this info as a note next to the redemption field during checkout but the option to omit it would be nice just in case it is still confusing to customers. Having done much reading on the subject it seems others have the same problem.

I've just set up GVs on our store and I am sure that the redemption box during checkout will confuse them. In any case they should have already redeemed the code as per the email they will get.

Whether it *should *confuse them or not is a different matter!
