SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

I purchased a cert for https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com and it appears to be installed correctly - if I manually go to https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com/cart it works fine.
I changed the two files as spelled out in the FAQ:

/
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');

// Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

*/
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');

// Use secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas?
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true');
define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'true');

If I go to https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com/cart and sign in it is not secured and the cart is not secured - it is as if I have not changed any files. I also notice that the www is dropped as soon as I click any link in the cart - it seems to be coded somewhere to not use the www. I've searched the forum and looked at several similar threads and it seems that I've edited the right files - any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Patrick

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

as a follow up - if I manually type in https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com/cart it goes secure with no problem - but as soon as I click any link it goes unsecure. If I proceed with an order and get to the ?main_page=checkout_payment, then modify the url to be both https:// and add the www. it works fine - it is just a matter of getting these to be added as they should be.

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

Have you checked what your configure.php files (both of them) say by downloading them? People often post the code that they uploaded, but because the configure.php files are write-protected on the server, what was uploaded often doesn't reach its destination. What you have posted should work fine, but I'd double check that it is what is actually on your server.

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

I've already configured both includes/configure.php and admin/includes/config.php.

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.porterranchpharmacy.com');

// Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

Still no workey

Did you make the changes directly on the server, or on local copies and then upload them?

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

I use coffee cup ftp - I change the file and it's uploaded to the server when I hit the save button.

I take that to mean that you haven't checked that the changes arrived safely. I suggest that you do.

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

Although you say you editted the files, the links shown on your Zen Cart pages all go to: http://porterranchpharmacy.com/cart.

You will need to confirm what the files on your Hosting account actually show.

This does happen sometimes and for various reasons. If I'm having a problem with FTPing a file with new changes -- and the new changes are not kicking in -- I just delete the files from the Hosting account then upload the changed files.

The learning is in the doing.

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

OK - now I feel like a super big idiot (as opposed to just super big)! I looked through C panel and found the files to still be in there original form even though coffee cup has been saving them (apparently to a local cache) and not saying a word about "can't save this file - you don't have permission' kind of message.

So now ssl is working and the www sticks, but...

Now customers can't log in - I try with a email and password and it just takes me back to the main page. I've seen something about this somewhere when I was looking for an answer to this question.

You say, "Now customers cant' log in" but I'm wondering if it's just you, trying your testing?

You may have to clear your Browser cache or just close all Browser windows then try again.

Re: SSL Problem - cert for www. and cart is dropping it

And if that doesn't work, do you have a test account that we could use to view this, without the hassle of setting one up and cluttering up your database with bogus customers?

And that's exactly what Zen Cart development is all about. Solving each challenge, until there aren't any more. Fortunately, several of those will drop out together. Good luck.
