linking products

i'm having a tough time understanding the linking with zen cart....

if i have a blue shirt, and i link to another item like blue pants that would go with it, does it then show up on the blue shirt page? is that a link?

how do i unlink and not get that big scary error msg that says if i delete something and its linked my entire website will fall apart in tatters? (or words to that effect)

does anyone have a nice (read easy) explanation for linking, how to and why do it and how to undo it?

Linking means you want to add one product to more than one category. What you are in need of is cross sell which is not included with Zen-Cart. You can find it in the contributions area.
To unlink, read carefully what it is you are deleting. I've deleted a product more than once!
