cart no retaining items

When you add something to my cart and then view the cart it is there. But, if you click home, it drops out of the cart.

What do I need to change so the cart will retain the items?

nevermind i fixed it.

fyi- the home page link did not include www before the web address so when the customer navigated using that link it dropped all items/info from the cart.
