Remove Demo Store info

Hi everybody, I have been given a webspace to create a Zen Cart in and someone has installed Zen Cart already. The problem is that they have installed the demo store, instead of an empty one. To clear the cart, can I just overwrite the database using the empty database sql file from the zen cart source or do I need to do something else?

That will work

But before you clear the db, study the demo products. They all have a teaching purpose and will show you how various aspects of Zen Cart work.

The ideal situation would be to have a test db and store installed somewhere so you can play with that and figure things out without hurting work you have already done on the main store.

Try deactivating the demo categories, which will render demo products not viewable..
then you will still have references to look at in future, as the admin

The Zen Cart isn't for myself so I overwrote the database like kobra suggested

Make sure the store you've 'inherited' is the current version.

You might be better off deleting it and starting from scratch.

How do you deactivate the demo categories? Also, how do you add a new product type? I see how you add a new product and category, but now product type.

Admin > Catalog > Categories/Products > click the green "status" button to disable a category.

Product types are in Catalog > Product Types; look in the tutorials for instructions - creating a new type is a fairly complex process.
