Timeout too short

Hi,

i've got a big problem with timeout.
Example:
No logged user have some products in cart, and leaves computer for 3 minutes, then he goes back and proceed to checkout, and it is all ok, but
when he leaves computer (or read some texts about products, reviews) for more than 5 minutes the timeout information appears and all cart content is out.

So, question is where can I make the timeout little longer?
(It's important for me, beacuse my clients are often older people and they do the things on computer very slow, and are angry when they have to collect items in carts again.)

Thanks,
recht

Re: Timeout too short

Look in your Tools ... Server Info ... for the setting on:
session.gc_maxlifetime

What do you see set?

Re: Timeout too short

I'm wondering about this issue too because I have client with a lot products in his store and certain admin functions timeout.

I'm assuming that this value has to be changed at the server level? Since this store is a hosted account, sounds like I'd need to have the hosting company try to change it for me?

Re: Timeout too short

Unless blocked by your hosting company, you can adjust the Time out for the Admin in the Configuration ... My Store ...

Admin Session Time Out in Seconds
Enter the time in seconds. Default=3600
Example: 3600= 1 hour

Note: Too few seconds can result in timeout issues when adding/editing products

Re: Timeout too short

Oh ok, I think this must be something different that I'm experiencing then. 1 hour is definitely plenty of time.

The issue I was having was a timeout with trying to add a product to the featured list and getting a fatal error message referencing 60s. (I'm having trouble getting the error to reappear - now it only renders part of the page and then is blank).

It must not be related to the setting you mention because it is set at 3600. I see another setting under the myssql settings for: mysql.connect_timeout which is set to 60. I'm guessing this isn't set from within ZenCart, though.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Timeout too short

Aha!

In case anyone else has a similar issue, I was able to keep the admin functions from timing out by going into:

Configuration > My Store > Admin Set max_execution_time for processes

It was set at 60 seconds and I changed it to 120 seconds. That seems to have done the trick!
