Error Message when viewing products

BACKGROUND
I created a very basic Zen Cart with Image Handler 2 on my local server and it works fine I moved it to Hostmonster under the domain name of Marcellesboutique.com
When I click on a product, the product comes up but I get the following error message at the bottom of the screen.
Warning: require(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_modules_xsell_products.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/marcelle/public_html/includes/templates/testtemplate1/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php on line 270

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_modules_xsell_products.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/marcelle/public_html/includes/templates/testtemplate1/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php on line 270

QUESTIONS:

  1. What does this mean?
  2. If I am missing a file where should it be?
  3. If I find the missing file in what folder does it go?

Appreciate your help.

Re: Error Message when viewing products

You haven't told us how you moved the Zen Cart. Did you copy all the files or just the database?

All the answers to your questions are in the first half of the warning "Warning: require(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_modules_xsell_products.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory" i.e. this file is missing from your new installation.

Re: Error Message when viewing products

I moved all my files from my local computer to Hostmonster.

That is what is so strange. I cannot find the missing file on my local server either but do not get the same error message on my local computer.

Does this file look familiar to anyone?

Re: Error Message when viewing products

It's part of the cross sell add-in mod.

Re: Error Message when viewing products

This may not have bee the best way to solve this problem but I went to

includes/templates/testtemplate1/templates/tp._product_info_display.php and removed the following statement

<!-- BOF: Cross-Sell information --> <?php // THIS CODE WOULD BE ADDED INTO YOUR TPL_PRODUCT_INFO_DISPLAY.PHP WHEREVER YOU WANT TO DISPLAY THE CROSS_SELL BOX: require($template->get_template_dir('tpl_modules_xsell_products.php', DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/' . 'tpl_modules_xsell_products.php'); ?> <!-- EOF: Cross-Sell information -->

It eliminated the problem but may create a problem later on. Probably will have to go back if I decide to use the cross sell feature.

What I don't understand is that the same statement is in my local server but causes no problem but on the remote server it does.

Re: Error Message when viewing products

Would it not have been just as easy to upload the file?

If you check the files included within the Mod and the missing is file is there, probably safe to assume your Hosting account Zen Cart will have problems when trying to use the Mod without that file.

The learning is in the doing.

Re: Error Message when viewing products

Your right, I probably should just upload the cross sell mod.

However:

  1. Since I am a newbie, I did not want to upload another add on at this point in time. Maybe later when I am more familiar with the products(s). I have had enough experience on other projects to keep what you are doing as simple as possible.

  2. There is something wrong within my programs for this problem to occur. I assume that line I removed doesn't apply if I have not uploaded the cross sell add on. But it did cause problems.

  3. I thought adding the cross sell add on at this point might compound the problem. I need to find out why the problem occurred in the first place when I have more time.

I am still trying to figure out why this line of code is causing a problem if I have not downloaded the cross sell add on. Especially since it has not caused any problem on my local comuter

Re: Error Message when viewing products

Cross sell clearly has been installed in your Zen Cart and parts of it are still there. Do you install your Zen Cart originally or did your web host do it for your?

As to why your local and remote Zen Carts appear to have different files, we can't answer, as we weren't involved in that transfer. However, it's not unusual for some files to fail during FTP transfers. Could that have happened here?

Re: Error Message when viewing products

Is it possible that you used a database from a previous install?

If the configuration table was modified with a previous install of cross-sell, that would explain it's looking for the cross-sell files.

Re: Error Message when viewing products

It's not actually the database requiring the cross sell code here, but your suggestion has sent me thinking in a slightly different direction. It's actually your detailed product information page that is trying to call it in.

This could happen even if you have never installed cross sell if you are using a different add-in that assume that you have. What other add-ins are you using?

And here's the good news, it could also mean that by simply disabling that call, you have done absolutely the right thing to solve this!

Re: Error Message when viewing products

Kuroi:

Thanks for your continued help.

I have only installed Image handler 2. I never even knew of the cross sell add on until this problem occurred.

The system is running fine after the deletion of those lines.

However, I simply don't like to have unanswered questions because they usually bite you in the b--- down the road.
