cannot upload images

im getting this error when I try to upload a product to the website, the product uploads... just not the image with it.

According to the messages, your server is not set up to allow uploading images to your /zen-cart/images folder. ie: "Permission denied" means ... permission was denied.

If you recall during installation, the /images/ folder needs to be marked as writable. Yours evidently is not.

Ok, I gave full permissions to 3 different users to both the images directory and to the admin directory, but it still doesn't seem to work. Getting the same error message.

How to I check what user account zen-cart uses to upload pictures and files? So I know what user I have to give access to.

Set the folder permissions to 777 or 775

when i try to set permissions through dreamweaver it doesn't work... so I have to do it through my web hosts control panel in the site.

Isn't there a ftp user that the zencart uses... and some way to figure out what the name is?

No...FTP is controlled through your hosting account and usually your hosting account user name & pass

I'm having this exact same problem.

I have lightbox installed. I also tried adding the add-on for Book Product Type but that didn't work. I re-installed zen lightbox.

I also manuall transferred the image files to the Images directory.

I can see the files. They're clearly in the folder. But my site won't show the images. Lightbox tries to draw the image but the wheel just keeps spinning.

It's freaking killing me.

Please help!

Doesn't make any sense. I have the .asp and my main user set up to write to the directory.

I've got to go back and make sure my usernames are consistent. Argh!!!

I've not used Lightbox so not familiar with its problems but I do know this: you will have problems if you leave your 'images' directory at 777. That is a common situation and most Hackers know it. Makes it easy for them to upload Hacker or Spam scripts.

Can someone please walk me thru the basics of uploading image into our website. Id like to change the zencart next to the name. Ive even tried to delete it thru File manager stylesheet, but still there....Please help

Is it possible that your host has upgraded server software?

I am getting this same message now.

I uploaded several new images and then tried to change an image on one and now I can't upload any new images.

You can see here what I am talking about with the ballet slippers. I was adding other new products but now it won't work. I did nothing different.
