Can a box be shown in the header?

Is is it possible to show a box in the header of the shop?
Say next to the Logo or the Welcome Message..

Also is it possible to move the navigation from the top to the left??

Re: Can a box be shown in the header?

Sorry this needs more clarification. Do you mean move the contents of one of the sideboxes up to the header, or put a border around something?

To which navigation are you referring? What template are you using (as different templates use different navigational features and put them in different places to start with)?

Yes that's what I mean. I want to move one of the sideboxes to the header.

To which navigation are you referring?

The Main Nav in the header, can this be moved to the left column?

What template are you using (as different templates use different navigational features and put them in different places to start with)?

I'm making a custom template and have followed the tutorial. So I end up with the navigation in the header when I reset the "lay-out boxes".

Thanks for looking into this :)

Re: Can a box be shown in the header?

The details of moving sidebox content into the header vary greatly depending upon the sidebox involved and in particular how its content is generated and presented. Some are easy, some hard. Here's a mod that does it for a couple of boxes that will hopefully provide a good example and maybe even some re-usable code. And here's another.

No reason why you couldn't create a sidebox to house navigation links. Probably easiest would be to take over a sidebox that already does something similar, such as "information" or "more information". Just be careful to ensure that you understand the logic that generates those links as they're conditional upon whether a customer is logged in or not and whether they have items in their shopping cart or not.
