Re-install to upgrade to 1.3.8 database query

Hello

We have done a complete re-install of zen cart instead of upgrading to 1.3.8 - how do we upload the customer database from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8?

The Customer tables include:

customers
customers_info
address_book

I am assuming you do not have anything in:

customers_basket
customers_basket_attributes

and that you do not want Orders etc.

Easiest way:

1. back up things first
2. empty the current database
3. import the whole old database (1.3.7)
4. Run the install script again, this time choose to upgrade database

You will have everything back, including customers and products.

so your saying to

1. dump my database then reimport it back into 1.3.7?
   then
2. run the install script and upgrade the database?

what does the first step accomplish, and is it necessary to get the new version to see the same database.

I did a full install of 1.3.8 and aimed it at our existing db. It seems as though that would do it.

You need to rerun zc_install and select the database upgrade option.

I hate to seem stupid, but ive gone through the zc install again and again & I still couldn't find an option anywhere for a "database upgrade option"

What am I not getting here?!

Hey, for a second there, I thought you lived in Manchester, England - like me. I had visions of us getting together and sorting out what we do not know about Zen over coffee, but alas, you are in the USA.

Good luck with your upgrade nightmare...mine is due to begin soon.

I've done that, but I still get:
"Ready to Install? (This will wipe any existing data. You are NOT in Upgrade mode!!!)"

Any suggestions please?

I am getting the same thing! where do i choose to upgrade database? is there a specific download for upgrade only? or do we have to download the full version of 1.3.8a? or is it 1.3.8?

What steps have you followed thus far?
Are you following a documented tutorial? Which one?
What's happening (or not happening), at what stage?
