Attributes and model numbers (skus)

So I am running into yet another attribute problem.

I need a separate model number for each variation of a product.

I am seriously surprised this doesn't already exist. How does someone selling say 3 different colors of a shirt have a separate model number for each product they sell?

By default, Zen Cart does not have "Stock-by-Attribute" functionality.

There is a module by kuroi in the downloads/other section that allows stock quantities but not sure about model/sku#'s

Any luck on finding out if you're able to get a separate sku for each product attribute? I really need a solution to this problem too.

Nope. I guess it just doesn't exist. How it can not exist really blows my mind.

Atribute stock and SKUs are coming in Zen Cart v1.4. No release date yet.
