Pausing the installation

I am at the "Prerequisites" screen of the install process. I'm getting the "running PHP as cgi" message that seems to have conflicting posts in this forum.

I sent for help with my host [hostgator], and while I wait for a response, is it OK to close the installation module and restart it later? Will it be like starting from scratch, or does it remember the stage of the installation when I return?

Im running php as cgi with no problem at all.

For everyone's information, here is the response I received from Hostgator support:

"All our shared and reseller accounts run phpsuexec for increased security which runs php as cgi. I apologize we do not have a way of changing it for your account. We do have many people running zen cart without any problems."

They have the same response we do over at Camelot

You will have NO PROBLEM running php as cgi with Hostgator.

IMHO too much is said about the php as cgi because of shoddy hosting out there. Quality hosting (like Camelot, Hostgator, and other certified Zen Hosts) will be set to give you the best security for your Zen site.

Look at it like the government warning on a leather conditioner I use for holsters. It says "harmful or fatal if swallowed." The fact is that you would have to swallow ten times your weight but it COULD happen so the government requires the warning.

I feel that the devs have left the warning for those who continue to insist upon using non-certified hosting.
