again tax/VAT being calculated on subtotal ignoring group discount

basically as it says - the VAT/Tax is being calulated on the sub total but I want to have tax/VAT caluclated on the subtotal AFTER the group discount is taken off

I have read through 100's of threads and made the changes to ot_group_pricing.php but still doesn't nopt work - I think that the ot_tax file needs some editting so that it takes the discounts into account before applying tax - but that file is beyond me!

so I have this:

Sub-Total:£40.00
Flat Rate (Best Way):£9.95
Discount Coupon: FREESHIPPING :-£9.95
Group Discount:-£3.00
VAT @ 17.5%:£7.00
Total:£44.00

Now the VAT or Tax should be 17.5% of subtotal-group discount - ie £37

I can change the orders and tax yes/no on group pricing to get the total figure correcT BUT for VAT purposes I actually ned the VAT to say £6.475 not £7 and that I cannot figure out

Anyway ideas?

Its almost like we need a second sub total after discount? and then apply Tax/VAT to that?

whilst I hate bumping a thread this is hugly important otherwise we cannot ever use group discount - which just seems so daft

If anyone knows or accepts this error and maybe wants to join in in resolving it for every other UK user that would be fab

I would happily pay for it to be done but I am yet unsure whether its even possible :) as I am not even sure that its seen as a bug either :(

What version of Zen Cart are you running? Do you have group discounts configured to recalculate tax?

You should upgrade; a lot of fixes have been made in this area.

do you know anyone that has got this working in 1.3.7? for VAt and UK based - as from reading a few threads I wasn't sure :) didn't want to go the hog of updating if the problem was still there

One way to check: just install a "test" cart with the sample data and run it to make sure the numbers are satisfactory. Then you'll know if upgrading will fix your problem.

The person who last fixed group discounts lives in the UK, so I'm pretty confident his fix is correct. But you may want to test it yourself to see if you agree.

We are in the UK and use 1.3.7 with group discounts and have not had a problem - VAT is correctly calculated.

swguy - the fixes didn't work for BUT those were for a later shop so...
