Can't add images to product!

Sorry if this is the wrong area, I didn't see a section for images problems.

I am brand new to ZenCart, just got the installation to finish today. So I tried adding a couple of products, and everything is great except for two problems:

  1. I cannot get an image to load. I tried browsing my own hard drive so Zen would upload it. It didn't. I tried pointing to the image on a different part of the website. Blank again. I tried uploading the images to the /ZenCart/images directory (which I set up) and pointing the product THERE -- still no image. What am I doing wrong?

  2. This isn't a major problem but it's annoying. The Gross/Net prices are different. I figured out by trial and error that the "net" price is the one that shows, so that's where I put it. Can I turn off gross/net distinction and just have a "price" field? I don't do international sales.

  3. I don't know if this is even a problem but it's weird. There are British flags by my products. I'm in the U.S. Where is Zencart getting these flags?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Can't add images to product!

1: I can't tell what is happening with your images. It sounds like you are using methods that should work. There's no substitute for being there in a case like this...

2: The gross price will include sales tax if you have it set and are shipping to a zone where you are set up to collect it. In the US, I would say to ignore it in admin; it won't generally show in the catalog unlesss you set it to do so.

3: Those are language markers, and if you are using only English they are irrelevant. They will not show in the catalog if you have the language selection sidebox turned off.
Edit admin > Localization > Languages to change the icon if you want.

Seeing the points 1 and 3, it seems like you are having some problems with the template
On the page where you were expecting the images, in the view source, whats the image path browser is looking for?

I don't know! I tried viewing the source, but with all the boxes, I could not tell where it was looking for an image. Here is the main page link http://www.steigerfamily.com/ZenCart/ and the problem is with both products under Quilting Accessories (which are the only two products in the store, so far).

Re: Can't add images to product!

In view source you will see this```html

<!--bof Main Product Image --> <div id="productMainImage" class="centeredContent back"> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"><!-- document.write('<a href="javascript:popupWindow(\'http://www.steigerfamily.com/ZenCart/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=1&zenid=1277f113926ad2acadbad8cc2f168f95\')"><img src="images/no_picture.gif" alt="Quilt Pati 1/2\" hexagons (pkg of 25)" title=" Quilt Pati 1/2\" hexagons (pkg of 25) " width="100" height="80" /><br /><span class="imgLink">larger image</span></a>'); //--></script> <noscript> <a href="http://www.steigerfamily.com/ZenCart/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=1&zenid=1277f113926ad2acadbad8cc2f168f95" target="_blank"><img src="images/no_picture.gif" alt="Quilt Pati 1/2" hexagons (pkg of 25)" title=" Quilt Pati 1/2" hexagons (pkg of 25) " width="100" height="80" /><br /><span class="imgLink">larger image</span></a></noscript> </div><!--eof Main Product Image--> ```which is the image output in question. Unfortunately, because the image was not found, Zen Cart used this <img src="images/no_picture.gif" ... which doesn't help with diagnostics.

If you go into admin > Configuration > Images and set Image Required to 0 and possibly Product Image - No Image Status to 0, the filepath being looked for may show.

Re: Can't add images to product!

Well, something you said fixed it! I changed the settings (I do real well with "under this, do this" directions) and went back into the two products and just-for-the-heck-of-it tried to upload the image again -- and it worked perfectly! Then I tried the other one and it worked perfectly too! Then I tried setting up another new product and the image for IT worked fine also! The only change I made other than those settings was I told it to upload to the "large" directory instead of the "uploads" directory as I had before.

Thank you so much for all your help!

Re: Can't add images to product!

Did you actually load the product image to the"uploads" directory instead of the "Main Directory"?

Uploads is for receiving files from customers, not for product images. It would be no surprise that images there wouldn't work - Zen Cart won't look there for them.
