My website is gone - white screen PLS HELP!

I have searched and searched and I cannot find any reason why my website is now just a blank white screen. I was working in public_html / includes / languages / english.php and in / public_html / includes / languages / english / meta_tags.php mostly. I have scoured those two pages for an error, and I can't find anything wrong so I don't know if it's there or if the error is somewhere else. I'm not even sure anyone can help with this... the error can be anywhere in any of the thousands of pages in FTP I guess. I would appreciate any ideas though! Thank you,

I dont know it it will work but at the beggining I was working with a FTP client ... I dont remember the name, but with that client I was having the same white screen. I reinstall the shop for 4 or 5 times untill I get the ideea of changing the FTP client. Now I am using Total Commander and it is OK. No problems. Can you tell me what FTP client are you using? Maybe it automaticaly change the name of your files.... If you tell me what FTP client are you using I might remember mine.

not sure how to tell what ftp client... i'm fairly new to this game. i'm using cpanel - is that the name you're looking for? i don't know how to change ftp clients either, i just use the one that comes with my host.

I think i am having the same problem as you. How did you solve the white screen problem. I have installed Zen Cart and when i click on the install link it brings me a white page..?

Hi there!

This happens to me every once in a while too. Check your includes/languages/english.php file and make sure there are NO spaces at the end. Then re-upload. Sometimes when you make modifications to the english.php file it uploads it with spaces and breaks the site =)

Oh my God.

I needed to submit to Google Webmaster tools. To do this, they ask you to put a bit of code into your header.

Being too lazy to find the html_headers.php, I just dropped it right into the top of my index.php for a couple minutes. Then I deleted it.

I inadvertently left a SINGLE EMPTY LINE at the top of index.php.

Result?

MY WHOLE SHOPPING CART BROKE! Users went to check out, got a blank page.

I was tearing my hair out, didn't have a good backup (shame on me, lesson learned)..I was going to migrate everything over to a clearn Zen Cart install. 500 products, 500 customers, and 15 modules. I was all prepared to have a trashed weekend.

Then, I used this tool..which gave me a clue..and I went back into index.php, and deleted the empty line at the beginning.

Result: Everything works perfectly :P

I knew it was something simple, but just thought it would be impossible to isolate it. Now, I have regained my sanity (temporarily).
