Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

Where can I find the files to change the page author info below. Also, is the content ="no" telling the spiders to not index the site? Thanks in advance.

<meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no" /> <meta name="author" content="The Zen Cart™ Team and others" /> <meta name="generator" content="shopping cart program by Zen Cart™, <http://www.zen-cart.com> eCommerce

Re: Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

Why do you want to change that?

It's a common courtesy to leave those details to give credit to Zen Cart -- after all, they wrote the software, not you.

Nevertheless, you can locate the place to change it by doing a quick search using built-in tools: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=39

If I'm not mistaken, you're violating open source rules if you change that information.

Re: Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

When setting up meta tags I thought it was the person writing the meta tag description that was the author not the program software writers. When I write HTML home pages for other people and insert the meta tags for the home page the author is not me, it is the name of the company and the copyright for the company follows the author name. That is the only reason for the change.
I certainly don't mind giving the Zen Cart Team credit.

Re: Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

Author (as with Books) usually refers to whomever created the Content.

Leaving 'generator' to show Zen Cart would be considered good form. After all, the pages "are" being created / generated by the Zen Cart script.

Yes I agree Rob. I was only concerned with the "author" part of the above files. The other files I would leave intact since Zen Cart is the generator of the program.

Re: Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

Then you would have no problems (legal or moral) with changing the 'Author' tag to whatever you want. It is also thought to be good form to allow the inclusion of whomever created a custom Theme. But that is decided by the site Owner.

i.e.
<meta name="author" content="SiteDomainName.com and customized by DeveloperDomainName.com" />

Re: Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

[Stumbled upon this looking to do what the thread title describes.]

Yes, I agree, Author should be able to be changed without legal or moral issues, but the generator should be left alone.

However, if you are modifying or using a template (which almost everyone is), they should be credited in that line. Zencart should also, really, in general. I do believe it boosts you in SEO anyway - Zencart indicates a level of sophistication of a website or store.

Something like:

Author="<Your Business> [and (or using)] Zencart."

(in addition to the generator)

This thread was hard to find, I'm looking to change the author tag too. Guess I have to use the developer tools? Thanks for the info.

Re: Changing meta name"author" The Zen Cart

While it is certainly useful for new users to learn the search functions within Zen Cart Admin, I think it will be make this thread more helpful if we explicitly list the file name and its location.

The file name is html_header.php. It's found under Includes >Templates > template_default > common.

Copy it to Your_Template_Folder_Name under Includes > Templates and change the Author's name as you see fit. For the reasons people listed here, keep the Generator credit the same.
