Product Listing description question

Hi all,

I have looked and looked and followed link after link here in the forum and the answers I find to this question are way beyond me, and i know there has to be a nice simple way to do this. (or at least I hope there is)

All I want to do is truncate the product description that is displayed on the listing pages.

I don't care that there is no html enabled on the info pages or any of that. I just want to be able to tell the listing pages to stop displaying after a point that I choose be that a character value or some kind of a tag i enter while entering the description.

Any help would be wonderful!

I have had kind of an after thought as well... If it is an in depth thing to truncate the listing descriptions I would be open to something that would suppress the description on the listing pages and only let it show on the info pages.

Go To your admin/configuration/product listing and about 2/3 the way down you'll see: Display Product Description This is the truncation of the description... change to the length you want or turn it off with 0

I knew there had to be an easy way. I have been looking for it all day now and I thought if I changed that it would take the description away in the info page as well.

You know how you get when you look at something for to long?
