Anyone have any luck with the "Additional Customers Fields" module?

Reason I ask is because, as it turns out, my client may be able to assuage some of their sign-up concerns by simply adding fields to the sign-up form, and this module is supposed to create a ready-made system for doing so without manual edits to the MySQL database.

I look at the warnings, and they detail that "many people" have had problems using this, and with behavior with their cart after install. That, and the instructions look to have either been written by someone with a poor grasp of proper english, or translated from a source document of a different language. It's a longshot either way, but I'm lookin for perhaps a bit of advice as I dig into the core of my ZenCart and prepare to install this beast.

I know from following TheOracle's Additional Product Field mod support thread that he tends to hack and do things in ways that don't follow the standard Zen Cart processes.
There is a manual product field creation method posted by crazy_chris that many people apparently found easy to follow, and the process and discussions of it may be applicable with appropriate modifications to customer fields.

Any chance you could guide me to that discussion, or write-up?

I've used it a couple of times and the only sites that it has worked as it is supposed to are sites that are not using any other modifications or add-ons. You'll still have to do some tweaking to get it right but apart from a few quirks it does what it should.
