shopping cart line summary won't turn off

i'm trying to do a simple thing and have followed the tutorial EXACTLY but it does not seem to work. Here's the simple tutorial:

This is after the customer picks his items, the summary on top, before s/he moves onto the shipping questions.

Yes.

Go to: Admin->Configuration->Shipping/Packaging
Select Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status
Choose the desired setting:
0= off
1= Boxes Only
2= Weight Only
3= Both Boxes and Weight

I set it to 0---and confirmed it as such. but its still shows the weight, number of boxes, etc. as a test, i set it to "1" boxes only--but it still gives all the info---(I want it be set to "0")...

I found this thread by searching for this very subject. I am using the "Classic" template, and not only am I unable to turn that line off by following those steps, but the weight is not showing either. I had 3 items weighing 3 lbs each in my cart and it said:

Your Shopping Cart Contents
You may continue shopping or proceed to Checkout.
Total Items: 3 Weight: 0lbs Amount: $315.00

I tried each of the four settings in Admin->Configuration->Shipping/Packaging and it had no effect on it.

My eyes are crossing and it's bedtime anyway LOL I'll check back tomorrow.

I've tried everything under the sun and can't get the line to turn off or the wieght to show. It's not earth-shattering, but it won't comply. LOL

yeah me to I had this problem in 1.3.7 and I dont think they have fixed it in 1.3.8, it is a bug!

I fixed it now how I fixed it them;

Remove this line:

<?php echo $totalsDisplay; ?>

from:
\includes\templates\template_default\templates\tpl_shopping_cart_default.php

Once I removed just the weight section but I dont remember how

Show Totals Above Shopping Cart?
0= off
1= on: Items Weight Amount
2= on: Items Weight Amount, but no weight when 0
3= on: Items Amount
