Images in Admin not showing up

I read thepost forma couple of years ago but still couldn't figure this out. The images in my admin panel are not showing up. I get red x's in place of the image. The buttons work but there are no images. Help please! I'm new at this and I did buy the book but it says nothing about this. Thanks!

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

Right-click on one of those little red X's and then select PROPERTIES from the resultant dropdown.

This will show the PATH to the intended image.

Then, using FTP or C-Cpanel, find the offending directory/directories and see if they contain your image files.

It's likely that your problems lie in admin/images .

You may have to re-FTP this folder from your local drive to your server.

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

I checked the path and they are were they are supposed to be. I went ahead and re-FTP'ed he folder anyway. I also checked the permissions. They are set at 755. What am I doing wrong? This is a lot more frustrating than I thought it would be.

Did you ftp the images in BINARY mode?

You may also care to check the state of the images in your local drive folder - if they are corrupted, then all you may be doing is sending corrupted images upto the the server - even if you are ftp-ing in binary.

Open the images on your local drive in an image editor and see if they are OK. If not, download a fresh copy of zencart 1.3.8a and unpack it, then load up from that directory.

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

Not sure if this is relevant, but here goes...

Open up your /admin/includes/configure.php file and check the path references to "images". Make sure you have not left off trailing slashes, etc.

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

I have a similar problem that I have yet to crack -
Images work perfectly in my store... yet in ADMIN when I upload an image and do a preview, I get a broken image -

When I look at the properties of the image, dig this:

the URL is http://www.mystore.site/cart2/cart2/images/the_image.jpg

A double incidence of "cart2" is mystifying.

I mean - it is more of an annoyance because this only happens in admin.

I imagine the admin config file controls what happens in admin
and I should be monkeying with that file alone.

best regards ladies and gents,

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

FIXED! - changed line 29 in admin/includes/configure.php from
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.myisp.com/~mysite/cartx');
to
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.myisp.com/~mysite');

I think the reason I ended up doing my configuration as a blend of my actual domain
name and the ISP's URL is that I do not have a site certificate and my customers
were getting spooked by the ISP Site certificate Pop-up.

Anyway - all is good now.

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

I am having the same problem that is stated in the first post.
I've checked the properties and viewed the source code and all the images on the admin page point to:

includes/languages/english/images/buttons/button_whatever.gif

I am assuming that because it is the admin screen it wouldn't need the admin/ at the beginning.

Anyway, all the images are in the folder, none are corrupt, but for some reason they don’t display.

Any ideas?

Pretty sure that you problem lives somewhere in the file
admin/includes/configure.php

Feel free to copy and paste it in a reply...
Especially the paths

Re: Images in Admin not showing up

This is my admin/includes/configure.php
but I haven't made any changes to it so it should be just like most everyone elses. I don't see where it calls the images. php is greek to me.
