What file must i edit and what must i do in the admin

what must i edit, i.e. files and what must i enable/disable in the admin panel to achieve this result. i am looking to have the home page/page look like this https://www.snorgtees.com or https://www.johnnycupcakes.com

my site is https://www.dacapotees.com/index.php i have it like that so if some random guy goes to https://www.dacapotees.com it will take them to nothing for now while i work on the site when i becomes "liveish" i will take it down for maintenance so no sales can go though

i have disabled all the side boxes

my hope is that there is an option somewhere to make a product a featured product by clicking an option box ext.

my first step would be to get featured products to be the only thing on the main/home page and make it fill the page i.e. change the with of that main content area i assume through the CSS, which wont be a problem. i will have trouble getting the featured products to display there, can someone help me out with that or atleast let me know what i have to change to do that?

the second thing i will need to do is get rid of the title area and background color basically the whole table or row at the top of where they are displayed that says featured products, where would i find this file to edit?

now i would need to get it to display like https://www.johnnycupcakes.com/browse is what i am hoping if not i know https://www.snorgtees.com was created in OSC but i hate OSC and love zencart... ;) so i need to find out how to do this i am willing to do the work to make it look like the johnny cupcakes product display basicly the image then the title then the price and then so that the clicking the pic or the title takes you to the products page.

then my next things are i want to bring the header with all the links down below the header image, have it so all the pages appear in the header well not all but select links can appear in the header bar.

i know its a lot and i dont expect anyone to do the code for me at all, i'm just new to zen cart and dont know exactly what files i need to edit to accomplish my tasks and some of them may be rather simple i have found some of the things im trying to do in posts but couldn't find most of them so i am hoping that people can just post as much help as they can and i will be able to piece it all together.

please help me guys :)

To make products featured, go to admin > Catalog > Featured Products, click on new product and select one.

Why do you want to make all of your products "featured"? For the grid display? If so, you would do better to install the Column Layout Grid mod from Downloads. Column Grid will give you the vertical alignment, and you can choose the element order in Configuration > Product Listing.

Turn off the sidebars in Configuration > Layout Settings > Column Left/Right Status - Global.

Many of your specific questions have been answered here recently - try searching for particular keywords.

Re: What file must i edit and what must i do in the admin

If you want all of your products displaying at the same time, why do you have separate categories?

If you do want to use separate categories on pages other than the home page, then you might best copy/link them all into one top category named "All Products" or something. Then in Configuration > Layout Settings, set
Categories - Always Show on Main Page
to 1
and
Main Page - Opens with Category
to the id of your "All" category.

Re: What file must i edit and what must i do in the admin

You have your categories set up with His & Hers under All. This will not allow products to display in All.

You need to have His, Hers and All as three equal top categories. Create your products in His and Hers, and then edit each product and copy ("c" button at right of page) to All, using "link", not "duplicate".

gjh42 you have answered a lot of questions of mine and I am very greatful, I have one more I think this is the last one for a while as i'm at the point where i will start populating it with actual products. on the product page the discription of the product displays which is fine but it also displays on the catergoy level https://www.dacapotees.com, is there a way to turn that part off i looking under product types layout settings and all listing and anywhere elese i thought it might be.

Re: What file must i edit and what must i do in the admin

nope it does the job did i mention i love you? lol. ive asked several others in page layout changes thread but noone seems to replay to the question of my store name appearing in my header not in the top bar of dacapotees.com but over the image. the only way i have been able to get rid of it is to not name the site but then my footer copyright goes away, i can prob edit english.php to fix that, but im concered it might have global effects on like reports or packaging slips ect. do you know of an easy way to fix the problem im gonna go name the site so that you'll be able to see what im talking about

That is text associated with the logo link. Since you are not using the logo as such, you can comment out the entire

<!--bof-branding display-->
<div id="logoWrapper">

...
</div>
<!--eof-branding display-->

section in tpl_header.php.
