White space between EZ pages and main navigation

Warning: CSS newbie...

I am playing around w/ a template. I have managed to move the EZ Page navigation bar, <div id="topLinks"> next to the logo based on modifications from the acadame template, but I can't figure how to get rid of the white space if I add the main navigation bar back in below the header.

I can get the topLinks (EZ Page bar) to line up w/ the bottom of the logo if I add a margin (don't know if that will break w/ a different resolution, browser, etc), but that adds to the total height of the logoWrap (which I don't want)

If I make that a margin-top it doesn't line up (which surprised me.)

If I use vertical-align: bottom again nothing happens.

Thoughts?
