A little challenge with XAMPP/Mercury Mail

Hi all,

I'm using the eStart book to build a testing system for zencart. Running Windows XP SP2.

I downloaded the version of XAMPP suggested in the eStart book, and the installation and configuration was going along fine until I tried to add users to the Mercury email system, as suggested in the eStart book on page 41. When I enter the example information into the add user details dialog, and hit "ok", nothing happens. The system just sits there.

Here's what the various admin windows panes are saying.....
Mercury IMAP Server - Current status ready.
Mercury POPpass Server - Total conns=0 Total errors = 0
Mercury PH Server - Current Status ready
MercuryX scheduling module - idle
Mercury Distributing POP3 Client - idle
Mercury POP3 Server - ready
Mercury SMTP client - idle
Mercury SMTP Server - Ready
Mercury Core Process - idle

I've tried stopping and starting Mercury Mail from the XAMPP console, but that didn't seem to help. A couple of the windows had buttons for "force poll", and I tried those, but didn't seem to get any response from those, either. The system doesn't seem frozen or anything, it's just not responding.

Anything I might try from here? I checked the Mercury Mail knowledgebase and didn't see anything there; same for threads in the zencart forums, but I didn't read the content of each thread, just the titles.

Whoops, never mind. Well, for those who might encounter this problem later, here's what's going on.....

It was suggested in another thread that I might check the errata/gotchas, etc, for the book at the book website. I went there, and sure enough, the solution was right there.

Basically, the sample accounts listed in the back of the eStart book include the domain name, and when you add new users in Mercury mail, you don't need to include the domain name, just the user name. As soon as I did that, it worked fine.
