How do I suppress one of two attributes?

I sell widgets that I sell in several colors and sizes. I 'd like to suppress the size of certain colored widgets when they sell out in that color. How can I do this?

Example:

Widgets come in:

Attribute: Blue, Red, and Black

Attribute: Small Medium and Large

I am all out of Black widgets in size Small but If I remove the attribute for small it is then removed for all the other colors as well which I don't want to do.

Is there a way to suppress the attribute size small for just one color?
