Product restrictions not working with coupon

Hi there - if this has been answered before I am sorry!

I am trying to restrict our coupon to particular products within a category. I have able to set the category restrictions but when I press on the product options I make the selection and press add and the page refreshes but the restrictions for the product do not appear.

The category selections are working, just no the product restrictions. And I do not get any errors or anything. Can someone give me some clue where I should look for the problem.

I am using zencart 1.3.7.1 and I have various mod installed but nothing that have touched the coupon admin that I can remember. I will double check this and let you know, but in the meantime if anyone has any ideas.

I'm using 1.3.8 so I don't know if this will help, but I have a coupon working fine that does this. I set up the coupon, then went to "restrictions" and set TOP to deny and under that set the individual product to allow. I haven't sent it to customers yet but I tested it both with and without the specific product.

As I said the category section is working fine it is just the individual product restrictions. In the category I put the top as deny and then put in the categories I want to allow. But if I want to add a few products to deny it just refreshes the page and doesn't add the product restrictions.

This is speculation, but I wonder whether the top DENY then the categories ALLOW and product DENY is confusing ZC. Try deleting the category ALLOW that you don't want to allow all the products in, then ALLOW the individual products in that category that you want. See if that works.

No I have read all the post by Ajeh and each time the problems are to do with not have the top as deny. And if I remove top deny then the coupon works on everything not just the items I want to limit it to.

So I do not believe this is the issue. But I am still have this problem that I cannot restrict the coupon to particular items I can only at this stage restrict it to a category which is a big pain.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I can't work out why when I enter the product restrictions and press the add button it just reloads the page and doesn't add the product restriction to the coupon. Can someone help please!!!

No I didn't. We have just had to be very creative with our coupons so they are only able to be restricted to a category. It is a big pain that we can't restrict it to a product.

At the moment there is too much customization to make an upgrade to 1.3.8 and being so close to the holiday season I think it will be next year before I get a chance. So if anyone has an idea about the problem and what code I need to look out for would be very helpful.

I hve this message showing when trying to set up the restrictions. Using 1.3.7 at moment.

Catchable fatal error: Object of class queryFactoryResult could not be converted to string in localhost\admin\includes\functions\html_output.php on line 333

Any clues please.
