Especially seem to happen when there are more than 12-14 individual items in the Shopping Cart.

I had a backup from January re-installed by host last night. Site's been down 2 days. Am testing and having same Internal Server Error. What do I do????????????

89% of the time I can "push" the server error, meaning, when this page comes up:

However, complete the next step, hit continue checkout, and same thing.... Internal Servor Error!! Also, sometimes part of the page disappears. I really don't want to have to change shopping carts.

I loaded your site and do not see the error???

But it loads really slow and this will turn shoppers away

Check your folder/file permissions as "I had a backup from January re-installed by host last night." and they may be different than required.

If host is suexec/phpsuexec and running php as cgi a 777 will throw this error

Which folders/files? All of them? And, what should they be?

check with your host but all folders should be 755-775-777
Files that need to be written most likely mathe the folder permissions and files that only need be run most likely 644

Ok, all files/folder permissions set to 755 or lower. Still internal server error. Current host is moving site to new server. Can server traffic/overload cause a 500 error?

Also, what should be in the .htaccess file?
