Unable to change any files via ftp

I am unable to make any changes to my files via ftp. I am using filezilla, I actually have already unistalled and downloaded the most current version. The files show that they were changed but the changes are not reflected on my site. I have emptied my temp internet files, and viewed the site both in FF and IE7. Other things I have tried, I deleted a whole file and the file is indeed gone on filezilla but the site does not recognize that I have deleted it.
I am able to make product changes and any other changes via admin.

I am getting concerned, this is day 2 and I still don't know what happened!
Does anyone have any idea what is going on???

You should have two sections in FileZilla. One is your website and the other is your local computer.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows you to move files from your local drive to your website. It will also allow you some other file related tasks like delete and change permissions.

If you changed files on your local computer, did you upload them to your website?

If your site is not reflecting any changes, then it is reading off a different set of files to the ones you are editing.

Are you sure you're sending the files to the appropriate directory/directory structure?

It may also be a case of CHMOD permissions... (unlikely).

Yes, I uploaded to the website.

Interestingly, I can change the file (local computer), upload it to my website, then download the same file (website>local computer) and my changes are still there. Does that make sense?

And permissions are set to either 777 or 755 on the files I have tried to change.

I use Open Source Website Script - CMS Made Simple. In that case, I usually go into admin area (Global Settings) and I try clear the CACHE (by click the button) in order to get rid of any temporary files. It is not enough you clear temporary files in the FF or IE. You have to clear the cache in the web server too. I works well...:smile:

I thought of cache too, without using CMS where do I clear the cache? The only cache files I can find are bmz_cache and cache which looks like just my payment logs.

My first concern was I had been hacked. I don't know that much about that stuff (I think you should earn an honest living and leave everyone else alone!:wink:) I have been getting a lot of ips requesting many pages 1-3 seconds apart. I have banned each of them as I found them.
Where could my site be reading from? I am using the same files I have read for the last 4 months and never had a problem.

As far as directory structure, I have checked, re-checked and rechecked again!

Just as an example, I have completely deleted my livehelp file, and then uploaded a newer version. It is still reading the old folder (that I deleted)!

Tattoobody.org is talking about your browser's cache, not Zen Cart's.

Let's backtrack for a moment. schoolboy made a good point. What files are you changing/uploading? Are you uploading them to the correct folder on your website? If you're using a custom template, is the template selected in the admin?

Yes, I am using a custom templete, and it is selected in my admin.

Everything was working fine on Sat., I didn't work on my site Sun. (finally took a day off) and Monday, is when it all went down hill. It hasn't worked since.
I am using the quick connect on file zilla, so I am 100% sure I am opening the correct host and files (I just use the dropdown and this is my only site.)

Thanks to everyone for your help, I found the problem. The ip changed I was using.
