Can you create catagories from an upload

I was wondering if there was a way to upload my products, descriptions, images and catagories from a file and force the zen cart to create missing catagories? Also, is there a way to program my website to accept data feeds from my vendors as to keep up with inventory and new arrival products?

Possibly, but there is no mod for this and creating one will be challenging and probably costly.

I have easypopulate but will it create the catagoies?? Will it delete unused catagories? Will it delete out old products that are not on the new upload?

I just got this site and have no clue about zen cart. Have os commerce on my other sites.

I am wondering if easypopulate will create categories that do not exist yet from an upload file, by including the new categories in the file in the right places of course I don't want to break things by uploading it like that if it might break things I don't know, not sure what is going to happen, so hopefully someone can answer and I will believe you then I'll do it and it'll be great.

Trouble is, of course, is that the advice you get here isn't always right. (I've made a mistake or two myself.)

I can't think of a better example of why it's so important to have at least one extra Zencart installation on your server. You can use it (them) to test situations like this without risking your live site.
