Simple question - turn off top banner?

Hi

This is bugging me as I did it yesterday !!!

How do you turn off the very top banner ( the one above the logo that has the 'home' and 'log in' options by default) ?

I'm assuming it's in the Configuration / Layout Settings area but I can't find it !!!:blush::blush::blush:

Hmm - all the Headers are set to blank but it still shows - any other ideas?

Then you must be using some sort of template customization that has changed the default operation of Zen Cart.

Compare your custom template's tpl_main_page.php file vs the original template_default version of it before any customizations were made.

I don't seem to have a tpl_main_page.php file in my custom template at all. There are several in sub folders in the default_template so should I copy one over ? If so - which ? the one in default_template/common ?/

Do you have a custom tpl_header.php file? Maybe that's where it is.

Yes I have this file - have tried moving the one from the default template and the original into my template as well as restoring the original one in the default template but still no joy.

I've resorted to adding a display: none; in the CSS to #navMainWrapper, #navSuppWrapper, #navCatTabsWrapper but that's not a great solution.

What am I looking for ?

First, you said it was working fine "before" ... what did you change?
Do you keep backups regularly so you can undo things?

What is the generated HTML around the banner that's showing where you don't want it? From several lines above it until several below it.
Then locate the related DIVs and other HTML pieces in your template files, and find what code is used to trigger the banner display. Then figure out what switch controls that.
