Numerous problems with a clean install of 1.3.8a: currency/language/database patching

Hi guys,

I am a newbie to the world of Zen Cart and just installed it on my server (hosted through 1and1 - linux)

The install seemed to go well, until I logged in to the admin cp and got these three messages:

*Error: There is currently no default currency set. Please set one at: Administration Tools->Localization->Currencies

Error ERROR_NO_DEFAULT_LANGUAGE_DEFINED

Warning Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.*

I set the default currency and language several times properly according to instructions in the ZenCart Wiki, however the error messages do not go away.

Upon going to the Server Information screen, I found the following info:
Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Database Patch Level: .
v.

For some reason the patch level is blank, could that be the issue?

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

It would seem that something's gone wrong during your FTP uploads and thus your installation is incomplete.

How did you do your install?

Many times FTP programs will timeout and leave files on the server in an incomplete state, either 0 bytes or only partially-uploaded. This can happen chronically in certain FTP programs or on certain slower connections, or even just randomly.
One good reliable FTP program, and free, is FileZilla (filezilla.sf.net) ... if it misses a file, it tells you and lets you redo it, etc. It doesn't do anything besides FTP, and does FTP very well.

You might want to re-upload your files, and then redo your zc_install to wipe and re-install the database.

Re: Numerous problems with a clean install of 1.3.8a: currency/language/database patching

I just reuploaded everything with filezilla....no failures (and I can now view the store, something I couldnt do before)

HOWEVER, I cannot acces the admin conrol pannel, I enter the login and password info, click submit, the status bar goes through its cycle, but i end up back at the same page...any idea?

Thanks,
J

Nevermind, looks like it was a Fireox browser caching issue.

Thanks for the help!
