Remove category image from product page ?

Hi

When viewing the product page I don't want the sub (parent) category name and image displayed... how do I turn this off?

I'm trying to do something similar - so I'll provide a sample URL..

The smaller image is the catagory image, while the larger one is the product image. In this case it happens to be the same image.. but that's not true for all the catagories. I'd live to not have it show the smaller image on the product page.

Here are two ways, Choose the one you like:

includes/ templates/ your_template/ templates/ stylesheet.css

Add the following declaration to the .css

1. #categoryIcon {display:none;}
2. this deletes the thumbnail category imageOr to delete the category image:

admin panel/ configuration/ product listing/ Display Product Image

1. change from 1 to 0

I don't wnat to tink with this right this moment since I just sent out a massive mailing for a site update, so there's people crawling over my site at the moment. I'll have to wait a couple of days for the traffic to die down before I make any changes. But from what I'm understanding your telling me to do, this will delete ALL catagory images? '

Actually - I want the catagory images to show up within the subcatagories.. for example here:

But when I click on any one of the products within that catagory, it has the catagory image up top, then the product image.. giving me a duplicated image. That's the effect I'm trying to avoid.

Alternately, I think I'd like to convert it to use a banner sized image that incorporates text for the catagories.. so that while looking at the catagory listings, they go across the page, stacked one on top of each other (because lets face it.. those tiny images aren't doing anyone any good right now! They just don't show my product off well) Then when I'm in the product itself, the catagory image would be a banner across the top of the page that has text on it telling the customer what catagory they're in.

I'm still playing around with the best way to list my product. I've gone through several incarnations including listing each colour as a separate item, and I think the current one is the best so far. Just a matter of tweaking it till it's perfect now!

Admin > Configuration > Product Info

Set ** Previous Next - Navigation Includes Category Position** to 0 or Off

This will prevent the category icon from displaying on the Product Info page.

Okay, I removed it from the product info page, but how can you remove it from the product listing page? Turning off the images, turns of all of the product images which is not what I want.

It's the category image at the top of the page I would like hidden. (However I still want the image on the front page).

You might peek in the Configuration ... Products Listing ...

sorry to re-open this but i have both TOP & SUB as false but still get the small image on the item, it no longer displays on the category page relating to the products...just within the product...

Previous Next - Navigation Includes Category Name and Image Status from 2 (2= Category Name and Image when not blank) to 1 (Category Name only).

The sub-category image kept showing on my product page and this fixed it:
