Registering new user

When a new user registers, the default Country dropdown is set to United States. I want it to be United Kingdom, as that is where most of my users reside. Where is the dropdown selected value set? I have been unable to find.

Look in admin -> configuration -> customer details -> Create Account Default Country ID and set it to United Kingdom from the dropdown menu
