Manufacturer's description

Can anyone tell me if it's possible and if so, how to add a description (like a category description) to a manufacturer so that when the manufacturer link is chosen there is a sales message or manufacturer's description displayed for the shopper to view?

I and many others like us have posted in this forum asking the exact same question. Often there is no reply given. Mostly when there is it goes a little like this.

I have found in includes/modules/meta_tags.php some talk about TABLE_MANUFACTURERS. With the right amount of experience I'm sure someone could come up with a mod for a description and metas for the manufacturers.

I have been trying and trying but the closer I think I am the further I seem to be.

Please let us all know if you figure out how to do this.

About all I know is that most likely a manufacturer(s)_description table would need to be created much like the categories_description and somehow "included" into the manufacturer's listing page. Or at least a description field added to the manufacturer_info.table. Creating the table is the easy part - I don't know how to include it into the pages.

I would be willing to drop a few bucks, if need be, to get it done. Anyone want to pool some cash together and submit to the programming for hire section?
