Category Tabs Menu - How to add a character between

How would I go about adding a character between each of the categories in the Categories Tabs Menu? I'm guessing its nothing under NavCatTabs in the stylesheet, so would have to be in tpl_modules_categories_tabs.php...

Instead of it listing them as:

Category 1 Category 2 Category 3

Category 1 | Category 2 | Category 3

I don't want the spaces and the " | " separators to be linked though...

Any ideas?

This is my first post and my first Zen Cart, so I am not an expert. Here is a quick solution I found for your problem. It was tricky to not have the trailing | marker at the end, solved by a little if statement.

the file is located at /includes/templates/template_default/templates. I would recommend copying it to /includes/templates/your_template/templates
before making any changes.
