Dangling carrot

I'm in the process of porting the Dangling Carrot module from OSCommerce. As this is a time consuming project, i'm interested to know how many people may be interested in using it. If response is low, i'll probably throw it on the back burner for a while.

Re: Dangling carrot

Some description would probably help, so people know whether or not it is something they want...

Re: Dangling carrot

Good point, though i made the assumption that most people would know what dangling carrot was.

Basically, it allows the site owner to offer free gifts, or discount on a particular item once a certain spend level has been reached. It will also tell the shopper when they look at there cart "spend xx.xx more and you qualify for "xxxxx" free gift.

Re: Dangling carrot

The title gives the general idea, but the details indicate that there would probably be a lot of people who would want this.

Re: Dangling carrot

Oh yes... long long time ago!

It might be easier (and probably result in better code) to package up the mod described in that thread (and the wiki) instead of trying to translate osC code.

Re: Dangling carrot

Yes, i did see that some time ago, but in my opinion the OSC module is more workable.
In view of the fact that i have already completed all of the admin side of the port, and am about halfway through the shop side of it, i don't want to just abandon it.

Guess i'll carry on when i have some free time. someone may find it useful.

Re: Dangling carrot

strelitzia, how is the porting coming along? I switched one of my stores to Zen Cart and this is one of the modules I really miss.

Thanks for doing this BTW!

Re: Dangling carrot

i too would like to know about this.

My thoughts on the mod are: that a reverse coupon as well as preset packages.

Coupon that gives a FREE gift or FREE Upgrade.
Or pre define if you purchase certain products together or over a certain value you get a Free Gift or Free Upgrade

Re: Dangling carrot

I've been very busy with my business lately, but i've finally got round to blowing the dust off my files and i'm going to get on with the mod over the summer holiday. I'll keep you posted.

Strelitzia

Can I add myself to the list please? This is something I have been looking for.

I had a look at the latest PHP5 compliant version and see there is a fair amount of alterations to the core files so appreciate porting to ZEN could be problematical

If you have the ADMIN side done and are doing the SHOP you are close...

Thank you

Re: Dangling carrot

Work is progressing on this port.
Unfortunately I had to re-work some of the previously ported files to comply with MySQL 5.
As soon as I have completed porting the remaining files I will make it available for BETA testing prior to release.

Re: Dangling carrot

Hello there,

I understand that there is a mysql thing going on pertaining to PHP 5. I wondered if anybody else got this at all? when deleting something and going to the shopping cart?

Fatal error: Call to a member function remove() on a non-object in /********/public_html/includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/main_template_vars.php on line 69

The line in quesdtion is :-

$cart->remove($gift->fields['products_id']);

Thanks in advance,

Heathenmagic

Re: Dangling carrot

Hello,
I have installed this mod and have been using it with mostly full function. One problem and question is how to remove the product from the dangling carrot threshold? I need to remove 2 items that are listed as free with a $20 threshold. I have not been able to remove even after deleting the products.

Can you tell me where the item details are stored so I can go in and remove?

I am not a web master, but have a fair amount of knowledge. I just need some direction. I LOVE zencart and am so appreciative of this community!

Thank you much!
