Compare products

Can You tell me which module may be usefull to product comparison.

I don't think there is a module available that enables customers to select from a list of products to then have them "compared" side-by-side.

That's what I am lookin for.

It's kind of surprising that this is not a default feature, since it exist in almost all eshops. Kind of like the "product reviews" or the "Tell A Friend" etc.

Whats even more surprising is that it doesn't even exist as a contrib :shocking:

We must ask to include in roadmap for future versions....

If you want to venture, try zenmagick

It would be a nice mod or feature...but then that would require you to have to add in all new options for different products types....otherwise you'll try comparing apples to oranges and that won't make much sense. For instance...if you had a product type of "Digital Camera" you'll then have options to fill out such as "Megapixels", "Lens", "Weight", etc.....then you'd need to have another product category for say....televisions, or computers...so on and so forth....

That would be one major ordeal....

That's what the product features plugin for ZenMagick does.
I agree that it is a pain to set up as you have to configure each feature for each product individually.

If there is enough interest I could be tempted to extend that so you can assign a group of features to a product type. That wat you'd have automatically all features available (even if not all are populated).

The plugin also needs some love to make the actual comparison work properly. Still might be worth a try if you are desperate.

In a shiny pink future there could also be an option to import product descriptions and features from professional databases (there are some, but I can't come up with a name right now. any pointers welcome).

Why don't you write one and make it available to the community?

That's the spirit of OpenSource... not endless complaints about what OTHERS should be doing.

Get off your butts and do it yourself - hundreds of other users have built modules - so you can too.

Thank you for letting us know. I installed the modul but nothing has appeared on my products pages. I might've done something wrong, not sure, but it would be great if someone gives additional feedback or explanations.

People and really dont use it, and even setting it up is an ordeal. For instance, you have to make sure all your products have every detail you need, and you need to enter all of these for every product, to the database, to make comparisons worth it. Say for instance from one manufacturer you can get all the specs, but from another only half, or not quite an equivalent spec - makes your comparison pointless.
