Catagories at the Top AND side??

Hi I'm new to Zencart, just installed and now setting up.

I was wondering if it is possible to turn of 'categories' from appearing at the top of the page, as well as at the side.

All I want is to have my categories appear along the left hand side of the page, without the top ones, because it just looks silly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Joshua
