To show all categories with its description

Hi,
I got all my categories in the same page with its image, clicking each of them can go to see a new page, that page shows description and products. But what i want is in the first page, all categories showing with its description, how can work it out ? Thanks

Yes, probably 8....actually,it is not good to creat a table listing all 8 descriptions on one line in the super-category textbox.I want it is showing like this

main category
(text or image here)

subcategory 1-description subcategory 2-description
subcategory 1 subcategory 2 ........ subcategoryX

description description
subcategory X+1 subcategory X+2

Or showing like

main category
(text or image here)

subcategory 1
subcategory 1-description

subcategory 2
subcategory 2-description
.
.
.
subcategory X
subcategory X-description

It doesn't matter the description on the top of the subcategory or after it, I just hope it is being with its category

Being you have only 8....make each in a category and then set admin > config > layout settings > Categories - Always Show on Main Page > to "1"

And I forget if there is a switch for cats with a single product or not???

Thank you for your replying, my categories can be showed on the main page, what i can not sort it out is...their description can not be showed in that page

I need to put the same description text for my 25 catagories before or after the product listings of each catagory, eg. ADRIENNE VITTADINI , ALAIN MIKLI, etc...

Is there a way to do a mass format??

Or I have to do it one by one???
