One product database + two kinds of handling possible?

Zen Cart is suitable to sell music tracks for download.
What I am wondering is if Zen Cart can be used easily for a shop that sells music tracks:

• for download
• on custom made CD

Can such a store use the same collection of tracks?
Is it possible that during checkout the customer chooses for shipping method "download" or "CD version":
** download -> after checkout the tracks are available for download (possible in Zen Cart default shop)
** CD version -> this choice will add some additional handling fees to the order.
The order will be placed via email directly to a 3rd party who manufactures the CD and sends it to the customer.

Regarding the CD Version:
If possible, the 3rd party can change the order status for a CD version order from "Paid" to "Delivered".
The customer can add an order to the tracks. That order will be used for the production of the CD version.

In general: Is it possible to create a Zen Cart shop with one collection of products,
but with two kinds of different handling?

Yes. It's possible. If you install a Zen Cart with the demo data, some of the products are available for download or physical shipping.

Some of what you ask for though, such as a 3rd party being able to set your order status are more about your business processes than Zen Cart. They will only be able to change your Zen Cart data if they have access to it, either through the Zen Cart admin, or by writing a special script that allows access to relevant orders and changes to their status.
