lotsa products, 1 price

Hello, I am customizing my first zen cart, and need some direction on how to lay it out.

Basically I want to sell photos, I can print/frame them for a set price for different sizes. I would like the customer to be able to browse the categories, and then click on thumbnails for big versions with names and descriptions.

For purchase, customers just need to select the size and framing options, and they can have whichever photo they want put in it.

So I am pretty new, and I am having trouble figuring out how to lay out my categories/products, and how to get it set the way I described. I have tried looking around for help on the forums but I need some more specific help with my setup. Please any direction would be nice.

I don't mind templates either if someone has one that works well with what I said.

Thanks in advance

Re: lotsa products, 1 price

Many questions need to be answered in order to answer yours.

  1. How many photos?
  2. Sizes of prints/frames?
  3. What do you want to feature? The frames or the photos?
  4. Why would I want something small printed when I can get a large frame for the same price?
  5. If I only had room for a 5 x 7, why would I not be upset that I had to pay the same price as an 8 x 10?With something like slimbox (add-on), you could feature the photo(s).
With the attribute controller, you could copy the options from one photo to all the photos.

Photo such and such
Options:
Size
Print or Frame

OR...

Photo such and such
Options
Size/printed - Size Framed

There is also a mod that will let you change the second option based on the first.

I can understand that you might want to "one-price-it" to "make things easier". I think it might turn the customer off more than on.

Re: lotsa products, 1 price

I should have been more specific. I will have one price per size. They will be sold as artwork, part of the proceeds going to conservation. For example a 14"x17" would be $350 purchase/donation. And they could have any photo they want.

I have a lot of photos to use, I will only put some out at a time to cycle through. I have several basic categories (animals, birds, etc). I think I showcase of about 5 or so on the front page, and 10 or so per page in each category and 2-3 pages, so it doesn't seem overwhelming. I think just the thumbnail + name should be visible in the categories, and a bigger version with a description and option to buy if you click on the picture.

Any help on how to arrange my pages would be appreciated.
